Brilliant Smile with Dental Veneers

There are many people who seem unhappy about their smile. Well, the truth is that natural teeth rarely appear in the perfect shape. This may be due to our habits which tend to restrict proper growth of the mouth in any aspect. As a result, the alignment of teeth may get out of shape. Luckily, we have dental veneers now. These veneers are basically the teeth shells which are applied to the natural teeth in order to make them look better and attractive. But, this process is not as straightforward and simple application of a shell. It may also require changing the outer structure of teeth in order to make them ready to have veneers.

Veneers are basically made of porcelain. These shells are then bonded to the front of the teeth in order to produce attraction in smile. The flaws which can be corrected with the help of veneers include:

  • Stains
  • Chips
  • Cracks
  • Misshape
  • Gaps between the teeth
  • Worn down teeth

The process of veneers application starts with the dental impression. It goes down to two visits. During first visit, the impression is taken. Second visit mainly involves application. While you are getting these veneers applied, you will be given sedative which is going to numb the area. However, the sedation of higher levels may be required if you feel uncomfortable due to dental anxiety or fear.

In order to make the natural tooth ready to receive the veneer, the dentist would remove small part of tooth enamel from its outer surface. This removal is done for the purpose of ensuring that tooth retains same natural thickness after the application.

To make sure that applied veneer looks same as your natural teeth, the shade of veneer is carefully matched with the color of teeth. After the application, veneers look normal and beautiful in the way you want.

What are composite veneers?

While most of us talk about porcelain veneers, there is another type which is also highly effective. It is the composite veneer. Composite veneers are prepared using different synthetic materials. However, the difference here is that composite veneers can be applied very short time. These veneers are produced and applied in one appointment. So, if you are a person who always runs short on time, you can pick composite veneers as your smile makeover option. And, the good news is that these veneers are also prepared in every shade the natural teeth can have.

Now the question here is that what option is the better one. Well, it entirely depends upon your requirements.
